Girls only in Vienna

The Frauencafé (Women’s Café) on Lange Gasse 11 was founded in 1977 and has been popular ever since. The new proprietors, a group of dedicated lesbians with a lot of experience in arts and catering, took over this café from a single woman, who managed it all by herself. The Frauencafé was originally founded as a collective by a group of lesbians in the 70s. It is women-only/transgender welcome.

Going Nowhere Queerly-Girls only in ViennaThe Frauenzentrum Bar (Women’s Center Café) — commonly called FZ — greatly contributes to the women’s and lesbian scene in Vienna by regularly hosting parties and events.

Particularly worth recommending are the Las Chicaswomen’s clubbing sessions, which have built up a dedicated fan community over several years.

At Marea Alta, a friendly establishment at Gumpendorfer Straße 28, men, and above all women, have a really good time. The crowd is young and trendy. A newcomer in 2010 was Labr!s: this trendy club for women who like women (and girlfriends) is located in the first district and offers special events from Tuesday to Saturday, such as karaoke night (every Th), or unadulterated partying at the weekend. Relatively new, is the Merandy Lounge Club in the sixth district. The bar area is good for convivial parties, the lounge area, for chilling out and the establishment’s own club “Aquarium”, for dancing the night away. Special events are also held on weekends.

Also the G.Spot parties, which are held every first Friday in the month on the club ship on the Danube Canal, are highly recommended for all women.
